Moving!
When I applied to Universities, UVic and SFU, I wasn't really thinking too hard about things. I more or less just wanted to get it out of the way, and get back to not having to think about those things. I got the acceptance letter from UVic, I had been accepted into my second choice, I was lukewarm about the whole thing and knew I'd have to jump through more hoops to get where I wanted to be. I also applied to SFU at the same time. When SFU accepted me, I was actually excited. That was that, I was off to Vancouver.

If I don't like The Big City, and it turns out to be all those things that people who like small towns say it is, then I will find out for myself. If I like it, and I believe I will, then there's so much more to like about a bigger city. Maybe when I get down to specifics I won't like this Big City, and go find another.

My brain is completely wrapped up and twisted at the possibilities that changing location offer me. I can't tell which are which, but some are pipe dreams, some will happen, but all are possible and dependent on me, and I'm up to that.

I've spent a lifetime here doing something that I had dreamed of doing when I was younger. It was good and bad, but mostly good, and taught me so much and has made me amazingly skilled at what I do. I could stay and things would be great, but I need to close this chapter because I haven't plateaued yet.

Besides, you only get to reminisce when you leave.

I'm glad you got into SFU. Vancouver has been a great experience for many, some of whom have returned, and a bad experience for a few. You'll be meeting new people at school and living with Alison, so I think the city transition will be more of an adventure than anything else.

Big cities have a lot to offer and I have a feeling that you'll like it. As much as I like Vancouver, it never has quite replaced either Edinburgh or Montreal in my heart. That said, it's still pretty fantastic, even to just wander around and explore.

Usually the most enjoyable things about a new place aren't anything that you'd expect, but they can often turn out to be about as bonky as any pipe dream.

You can reminisce any ol' time. I do fairly often.

Good luck, and you'll be missed.
